It was a quiet week in the Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 news arena, but a busy one on the Guild Wars gameplay front.  Halloween is here and you still have a little bit of time to participate in the Mad King Thorn’s festivities if you haven’t yet!  Check out his appearance schedule to find out when to get your festival hats — there’s even a handy countdown timer at the top of the page to tell you when he’ll show up next!

We talked over all the Halloween happenings, including the new quest arcs, and read through some great emails from listeners.  We’ll see you next week!We also need more intros! Pimp your guild, get your character name out there. We want to hear it!

The GuildCast theme song is “The Dirt” by Goddessmusic.

Or you can just appease everyone and spill whether mesmers are going to be in the game or not. That seems to be the number one bone of contention. If you tell us that, we’ll shut up and be patient 😀 Sorta.

Of course mesmers are going to be in it. Maybe not called mesmers, but a class like mesmers has to be in it. Guild Wars is not the same without its own class system(ele, mesmer, monk etc. first game I have seen with such diversity)

In regards to the PC Gamer article. This is a classic example of “There is no such thing as bad publicity”. For the layman, who really would consider the Charr a beast man, it got the job done by making the game look cool and generate some hype. For hardcore Guild Wars gamers you could say it did its job as well. How many times did you say “PC Gamer” on your show over the last two weeks? I didn’t count but I can assure you was is a lot. Much more than you would have if the article was written from the fanboy/fangirl perspective. The article is going to get people to read the mag the next time it does an article on GW2. The laymen will want to see more cool pictures and hear about a cool new game. The hardcore GW players will be reading it to see what was butchered and will also be looking for any new scrap of information since it will probably be an exclusive article. Regardless of which camp you are in I think there will be more people reading their next article about GW2 than there were reading their last.

This was simply my observation. I am not trying to defend them and honestly I don’t know that they are smart enough to do this by design. But I do think that looking at it from a neutral standpoint puts an interesting spin on the situation.
