We have another email show, this time wrapping up those we didn’t get to in episode 10. You guys sent in some great thoughts on all sorts of subjects, from the War in Kryta aftermath to weaponry in Guild Wars 2. Our deepest apologies for the incorrect info from last episode. We promise to never ever make another mistake again! Ok, maybe not.

This one is an all-email show where Shawn and Rubi make it halfway through (in 75 minutes!) the backlog of emails they have stacked up. But don’t let that stop you from sending in your own! We love ‘em.
The sound on this one is a bit… different as Shawn plays with his new computer and new recording software.
We also encourage you to send us your questions for ArenaNet regarding clarification on any info we’ve learned about GW2 so far.
EDIT: Here’s the GW guild forum link I promised: http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=221

We had so much to talk about this week on Guildcast! ArenaNet revealed the
ranger for Guild Wars 2.
Our followup interview at Massively had some interesting extra details, as did the
PC Gamer interview.
The War in Kryta is over, Princess Salma is now Queen Salma, the fate of Langmar and Thackeray leaves Gwen crying in the Hall of Monuments, and we wait anxiously to hear what happened to everyone else.
Finally, Shawn got a copy of Ghosts of Ascalon! He wrote a great review, and we spent some time chatting with co-author Jeff Grubb. You can hear our interview with Jeff today, and check out the text on Massively if you’re so inclined. ArenaNet has released the first chapter on the Guild Wars 2 site, and the first three chapters are available through iBooks. If you’re having trouble viewing them, a (wonderful) Guild Wars 2 Guru forum poster pulled together screenshots. Check them out on GW2G and make sure to leave him a note of thanks!
WARNING: We give ample warning in the audio, but the part from around the 42 minute mark until 1hr 17min is full of spoilers about the book. If you don’t want to hear spoilers, skip that part.
We apologize for the “staticy” sound issues. It’s a desk fan pointed at the side of Shawn’s computer to keep it running in the summer
That awesome intro was done by Ryan from
Relics of Orr. Check them out!

This week on Guildcast, omg email. But first, death, healing, and the new and improved holy trinity. We also take a look at the War in Kryta, which has reached its culmination for the time being. We get a couple of final quests, defend Princess Salma, and finally find out what those Medals of Honor are for. What’s next for Guild Wars Beyond? As always, we speculate.
We also read email, of which there is a ton. We love it — keep ‘em coming, you guys! At the end of this episode, we include a very special interview we did with Felicia Day the day after we originally recorded. I was going to wait to include it next week, but I opted to hold off an extra day and fit the interview in. While the entire interview will be over at the Massively Speaking podcast on Wednesday, the parts pertaining to Felicia’s GW2 voice work are included here.
Also, next week we have a big surprise for you guys. What could it possibly be? You’ll have to wait and see!

This week on Guildcast we had plenty to talk about. The Dragon Festival is here, Murro is back on his native soil, there’s a book, and there are minigames that are better than minigames!
Wait, what? Okay, we’ll slow down a bit. The Dragon Festival has arrived, and if you have a character who has not unlocked Shing Jea Monastery, never fear, because there is a handy-dandy guide on how to get there. It also includes tips on how to make the most of the party once you arrive. The War in Kryta is continuing, and our old friend historian Murro is finally back. We’ve also got a shiny new excerpt from Ghosts of Ascalon and there are necromancers in Guild Wars 2 omg! Okay, it’s not been confirmed by ArenaNet, so we don’t really know that there are necros in Guild Wars 2, but the book does specifically say necromancer. And last but certainly not least, we got some more major information on Guild Wars 2 in the form of a new ArenaNet blog entry all about activities within the game.
Then we read listener emails, which might be our favorite part. Keep them coming, and get us those audio intros! Thank you!
Look for the complete archive from the original GuildCast to be up soon.

In spite of a relatively quiet update week for both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, we managed to find plenty to discuss this week.
The annual Dragon Festival in Cantha begins next week, bringing with it our annual dose of red bean cakes, sugary blue drinks, and fabulously bad acting. The newest Guild Wars 2 information brings us an ArenaNet blog entry about new alphabets and prompts a discussion on what this might mean for gameplay. We continue our endless speculation about the next class reveal, and read lots of reader mail. Thanks for that, you guys — keep ‘em coming!
Also, we try not to, but we still say “mechanic” a lot.

In this 5th episode of GuildCast, Shawn and Rubi discuss the latest Q&A with lead designer Eric Flannum and designer Ben Miller regarding combat, skill chains, traits and more. Discussion also turns to the Guild Wars 1 War in Kryta updates and some speculation on where the White Mantle vs. Shining Blade thing is going.
We also read through several emails, including more than a few on GW2 profession speculation. Be sure to check out gw2fans.com where a budding community has already begun to grow. Also check out another Guild Wars podcast Relics of Orr featuring Lady Sinaea as a co-host!
As mentioned in the show, there are a few fun things we want to try for next episode (and beyond):
- As a mini impromptu contest, we will be giving out a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate to the first person who correctly predicts the next revealed class.
- Leave a comment to let us know your plans for your GW2 characters. What race/class/order combo will you pick? Why? Will there be a backstory? We would love to hear all about it and read a few on the next episode.
- We would like to encourage listeners to send in intros for the show, like I did with the original GuildCast. So if that sounds like fun, send a small .mp3 file with something like “This is (name) and you’re listening to GuildCast!”. You may just hear yourself on the show soon!
